WP 1. Preparation
•A detailed study will be prepared on the current curricula at 6 partner Uzbek universities. The study will also include the courses given at 3 EU partner universities.
•This study will be compiled from inputs from different partners. It will be available to all partners at the kick-off meeting, which will conclude this activity. Based on this study, the consortium members will decide on all practical details of the project and the contents of the courses. In this meeting, the curricula will be drafted.
•Intensive English language training for Uzbek teachers will be arranged.
•Uzbek teachers will study existing courses in Master’s programs of ITS at EU partner universities.
•Training on laboratory equipment for Uzbek teachers will be organized by EU partners after installation of laboratory hardware.
WP 2. Development of the new MSc program
•The curriculum will be designed taking into consideration study analyses and problems in Intelligent Transport Systems, and all expertise of the EU partners – GUT, UNIZA, AKU. 12 courses are planned to be developed for the whole one year of the project and the list of the foreseen courses are the followings:
•Transportation systems (32 hrs/lec, 32 hrs/practice, 32 hrs/lab);
•ITS basics (32 hrs/lec, 32 hrs/practice);
•Mathematical tools (32 hrs/lec, 32 hrs/practice);
•Automated Data Acquisition and Processing (16 hrs/lec, 16 hrs/practice, 16 hrs/lab);
•ITS management (32 hrs/lec, 32 hrs/practice);
•Traffic modeling and simulation (32 hrs/lec, 48 hrs/practice, 16 hrs/lab);
•Telecommunication (48 hrs/lec, 32 hrs/lab);
•Specialization in ITS I and II (48 hrs/lec, 48 hrs/practice, 32 hrs/lab);
•Traffic safety (48 h/lec, 32 h/prac, 48 h/lab);
•GIS for Transportation (48h/lec, 48 h/prac, 32 h/lab);
•Theory and Methodology of Science (16 hrs/lec, 32 hrs/practice, 16 hrs/lab);
•Required elective Module (48h/lec, 48 h/prac, 32 h/lab).
•The development will include producing the course materials, exercises, assignments and possible examples of exams. Model answers for some selected problems will be provided.
WP 3. Quality Control and Monitoring
•The project activities will be continuously monitored by the each project partner institution's contact person and project coordinator. The coordinator will monitor the eligibility of the expenditure and the management of the budget and also, monitor the progress of the project, which will be under permanent supervision of the project quality control committee. Partners will circulate summary and progress report following each meeting, seminar or any other activity. The coordinator will visit other consortium members to monitor different activities. Different surveys will be conducted after applying the courses and exams to check the influence of the new courses. Surveys will target teachers, students, retrained engineers and management from the industry.
•Randomly selected student exams at AMBI, JPI, TerSU, TIRE, TARI, TUIT will be sent to EU professors for evaluation. Two EU professors will be “External Examiners”.
•Advisory board will be formed to control the quality of each outcome. The members of the board will be one professor from each consortium member.
•Evaluate the developed courses and the laboratory experiments to see if they meet up expectations. Other experts from the Uzbek industry - MHSSE, PTTC, and ARTD will be also invited to review the new courses. There will be an intermediate evaluation during the development phase.
•Collect feedbacks from students/trainees of the courses.
•Collect feedbacks from EU professors and teachers who deliver the courses for students and Uzbek teachers
•Monitor and quality check analyses carried out by the quality control group of the project. The group consists of one representative from each project consortium member.
WP 4. Dissemination/Exploitation
•A bilingual project website and web-portal is created and published. It will be updated weekly. Project partners will also use a discussion board of the project web-site for file sharing and communication purposes. The web-site will be hosted in Europe.
•For each of the four universities, official opening ceremonies will be organized inviting all stakeholder groups.
•Information about the project activities and results will be disseminated through special brochures. A book of proceedings will also be published for the international conference - “ Modern problems of Intelligent Transport Systems " conference at TICAR. Regional/national newspapers will also be used as a platform for dissemination of information about the project.
WP 5. Management
•A first grand coordination and project launch meeting in Uzbekistan with all project partners including all European partners. This action will serve for introduction of all project experts and professors, first dissemination event of the project, coordination of all planned actions for the 1st year.
•The coordinator will ensure communication among all partners and decision making in the project in a democratic manner. The consortium, as a group, will plan and define progress through a decision making process based on regular contact (via meetings, tele-conferences, e-mails, skype, phone, etc.).
•Project Management Group will be established with one representative from each partner institution. All decisions of the project will be made at the project management board's coordination meetings that will be planned twice a year. The project coordinator will be responsible for the funding monitoring and financial reporting.
